The ThinkSystem SR850P’s agile design permits rapid upgrades for memory, and its large, flexible storage capacity helps to keep pace with data growth.

Built for standard workloads like general business applications and server consolidation, it can also accommodate high-growth areas such as databases and virtualization. The ThinkSystem SR850P server supports four second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable Gold or Platinum processors. NVMe drives are high-speed, low-latency storage, ideal for storage tiering. The SR850P server has space for 16x 2.5-inch drive bays, all of which can be configured as NVMe drive bays.

These include support for four sockets and 48 DIMMs, mix and match internal storage, and enterprise-grade systems management with the embedded Lenovo XClarity Controller. With a dense 2U design, the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR850P provides advanced features and capabilities. You will see a performance benefit of the mesh configuration with multi-threaded applications that have a lot of thread-to-thread communications and memory transfers. On the other hand, the SR850 uses a "ring" configuration, where each processor connects only to the two adjacent processors. With the SR850P, the four processors are connected in a "mesh" configuration, where each processor is directly connected to the 3 other processors via 3 high-speed UPI links. The key difference between the SR850P and the SR850 is the way the four processors are connected together.
